Make and Capacity
The steel cross-brace frame of this power wheelchair makes it quite sturdy. The components are attached securely to one another. The large 12.5-inch rear wheels and small front ones have plastic make, but they are also quite strong. The flat-free tires are highly durable and leave no marks whatsoever. You can expect the unit to stay in good shape for years to come. You will also be happy with its large capacity of 300 pounds. Weight really doesn’t matter when it comes to using this model and I want to highlight this in my folding power wheelchair review.
The Folding Power Wheelchair’s Features Assessed
The seat is 18 inches wide and 16 inches deep. This is sufficient even for a tall and not particularly slender guy like me. The padding is not very thick, but it does its job excellently and provides a high level of comfort. I feel obliged to point this out in my folding power wheelchair review.
The armrests are awesome. They are padded and adjustable depending on the user’s height. They are removable for easier mounting. There is a special band providing support to the user’s calves. This is a very clever feature that you will surely appreciate highly. The footrests of Drive Medical Cirrus Plus have a swing-away design which is not commonly found these days. They have heel loops for even more dependable support.
Both users and caregivers will be happy to discover that the storage pouch can accommodate all essentials for a trip of any length. It offers excellent protection from the outdoor environment and is very convenient to use. The steering handles are ergonomic. While these may seem like little things, I think they should be mentioned in every folding power wheelchair review.
Is It a Good Performer?
The motor is powerful and works reliably along with the transmission. The joystick and the controls are convenient to use. You can expect Drive Medical Cirrus Plus to give you a smooth ride even on surfaces which are not particularly smooth, thanks to the rugged anti-tip wheels.
The maximum speed of 5.5 miles per hour is quite impressive and I’d like to point this out in my folding power wheelchair review. This is a lot more compared to what the Giantex foldable wheelchair has to offer. The turning radius of 32 inches shows that the model has good maneuverability. This is something very important when it comes to moving around tight areas and places with lots of turns. The climbing angle of 6 degrees is pretty much standard for such devices. Folding is quick and easy. When folded, the wheelchair is quite compact.
Is the Battery Reliable?
This model is equipped with a pair of 12V 36AH batteries and comes with an offboard charger. They all work reliably and the major indicator for this is the 15-mile maximum radius of Drive Medical Cirrus Plus. You can really go a long way with this unit.
How about Negatives?
This is not the lightest of power wheelchairs with its 146 pounds of weight, but this is generally not a major concern. The unit is sturdy and performs smoothly and this is what matters the most.
Should you get the unit after reading this folding power wheelchair review? It is comfortable, dependable and rugged and these are all factors which make it a fine choice. For more details and reviews, visit Amazon.
